Amplify selection center frequency

Boost or cut a peak centred on the middle frequency of a spectral selection.

Applies a single peaking EQ band to a spectral selection, centred on the middle of the selected frequency range and as wide as the selection. Where Amplify selection lifts or drops the whole band evenly, this shapes a peak or a dip around one frequency, which suits narrow problems such as a single ring or resonance.

Making the selection

This effect works on a spectral selection, so the track must be showing a spectrogram first — see Toggle Spectral View. Drag in the spectrogram to select a time range and a frequency range. The effect takes its centre frequency and its bandwidth from that selection.

Controls

  • Gain (dB) — −24 to 24, default 0. How much to boost or cut at the centre frequency. At 0 the effect does nothing.

Notes

Because the bandwidth comes from the selection, a tall selection gives a broad, gentle curve and a short one gives a narrow, surgical band.

A 10 ms fade at each end of the selection blends the processed region into the audio around it.
